It was a perfect day for a birthday. The day those ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes struggled their way from Heaven to Earth like millions of newborns had done for centuries. It’s just that this time, this perfect day, those ten tiny fingers and ten tiny toes belonged to a perfect Savior.
What unfathomable love our God must have for us that He would step out of Glory Into the dust, the mess of a stable, the mess of a world to save us.
The God Who knew that this year would bring pandemic…
The God Who knew that this year would bring fear…
The God Who knew that this year would bring loss, sorrow, loneliness, grief… Came to us, came for us at the perfect time
One moment sooner would have been too early. One moment later would have been too late.
What love, what amazing, eternal, unfathomable love. A love that transcended every wickedness of our hearts to bear them on the cross, a love that sees our unloveliness and yet loves us in ways that no man ever could, ever would, a love that sees us and yet chooses us, a love that reaches us with mercy, that lavishes us with grace, that abides with us, comforts us, assures us- Even in all of this. Yes, in all of it.
Today, this beautiful Christmas morning, whether you are surrounded by people who love you or whether you are faced with another day in an empty house, may your spirit be filled with knowing the great worth your God places on you
It’s a perfect day for a birthday.
