Little Miracles

First, I want to thank those of you who have already purchased The Wondrous Gift Advent devotional this year. I will admit that it’s always overwhelming to think that anyone wants to read what I’ve written.  I always tend to think that my blogs are this private world of me and the random things that are on my mind. To know that others actually read these words of mine is pretty… well, terrifying!

The theme of the book this year is miracles, as I’ve already written about before. I wanted to share with you a little bit about why I chose that theme.

This past year, I have watched life get really difficult for a lot of people. It seems that the anger, chaos, and anxieties that are rampant in the world that we live in are making their way into our personal lives.

It’s been a tough year.

Though I can only speak praise to God for the life He has given me, I have met with some situations this year that have driven me closer to Him than ever before.

But in the middle of those situations, whether in my life or the lives of those I love, there have always been these little miracles that God has used to remind me that He is in control. Though I may feel alone, He still- just as He promised- has never left me. His protective arm is still poised over me as it’s always been.

Little miracles may come in the form of the right words spoken to me at the right time. It could be a sense of peace when everything in my circumstances screams anything but peace. Maybe, like Hagar, when my soul is thirsty and ready for death, He opens my eyes to a spring of fresh water right at my feet.

Little miracles make a huge difference in our lives. They keep us going, keep us encouraged, and keep us reminded of the presence of our loving Father. No matter what, no matter where, no matter when- these little miracles let us know that we are His, and that, no matter the season we are experiencing, He will always come through for us.

Where do you need a miracle today?

(Thank you to my friend Debbie Manly for the beautiful photograph!)
