Isaiah 9:6, Luke 2:14
This afternoon I was listening to a song that was describing how busy the Christmas season is. There are so many things to do, and this isn’t a bad thing. In fact, to me it is a blessing to have so many wonderful friends in my life that I want to share this special time of year with. No, being busy isn’t always a bad thing.
Being too exhausted from busyness to reflect on exactly what we are sharing- that is a bad thing. Being consumed with worldliness and selfish obligations is not great, either.
When I was thinking about this, I thought about the words to the Christmas carol that talks about a midnight clear. Sometimes, our “midnights” are more cluttered than clear!
That special carol is meant to remind us of the message of peace that the angels sang on the night Jesus was born. That message won’t “stick” when our hearts are cluttered with the world. But to those of us who are pleading for a “midnight clear,” His peace heals our souls like a soothing balm.
One response to “A Midnight Clear”
It came upon a midnight clear
