Be Still…He’s Still…

Sometimes life is hard. It seems that we go through times when we experience one difficulty or tragedy after another, with barely a space to take a breath. Sometimes it’s easy to ask, like Habakkuk,

O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you, “Violence!” and you will not save? (Habakkuk 1:2)

  The Lord answered Habakkuk’s cry:

Look among the nations and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told. (Habakkuk 1:5)

Habakkuk goes on to resolve that instead of being filled with fear and worry about the things that he is observing, that he will take his stand at his watch post and wait to see what God is going to do. He declares that he will look beyond the circumstances, knowing that what God has promised, He will do.

God always assures His people that no matter what is going on here in this world, He hasn’t abandoned us.

In this world that we live in, full of violence, turbulence, wickedness, and hatred, it can be so difficult for us to remember the simple truths that God has proven to us time and time again.

Be still, because He is still loving.

Be still, because He is still kind.

Be still, because He is still faithful.

Be still, because He is still all powerful.

Be still, because He is still all knowing.

Be still, because He will never, ever change.

Look beyond your circumstances today, let His Holy Spirit quiet your troubled heart, let His Word capture the whirlwind of thoughts in your mind.

Be still, because He is still God, our Savior, our Father.
